Kansas Sunflower League Preseason DAWG List

Cameron Carter - Olathe West - 2024:  As a sophomore Cameron batted cleanup and helped lead the Owls to the 6A state semifinals with his .417 average and 22 runs batted in.

Austin Buie - Gardner-Edgerton - 2023:  The Blazers Buie will look to finish his senior year out strong after batting .403 with 8 extra base hits in 2022.

Brady Kern - Lawrence Free State - 2023:  With 9 extra base hits including 3 triples in 2022, Kern was a force for Free State batting .412.

Jamon Beck - Shawnee Mission Northwest - 2023:  Beck can get you from the mound (26-7 strikeout to walks in 22) and from the plate (.338 avg and 6 doubles).

Anthony Mazza - Shawnee Mission East - 2024:  The Lancers backstop will be a key piece as they try to repeat as regional champs after batting .373 with 7 doubles in 2022.

Reece Magathan - Olathe East - 2023:  Magathan is part of a strong group of returning seniors for East after batting .324 with 10 XBH in 2022.

Dylan Blazer - Mill Valley - 2023:  The 2nd two way on our list, Blazer, struck out 34 with a 2.69 ERA while batting .337 for the Jaguar offense.

Michael Novak - Olathe East - 2023:  Another of the Hawks seniors, Novak looks to carry over his .393 avg into 2023.

Nick English - Olathe South - 2023:  English is part of a strong OSHS offense carrying a 306 avg with 7 doubles last year.

Gage Handzel - Shawnee Mission West - 2023:  Another two-way, Handzel batted .356 while posting a 4.48 ERA in his Junior season.

Colton Sims - Shawnee Mission East - 2025:  Sims is part of a young Lancer team. After collecting extra bases 7 times including 3 homers in 2022, he will look to take things even further his Junior season.

Harry Tryban - Olathe East - 2023:  Tyrban knocked in 18 runs for East last season while batting .339. Another of Easts strong senior class.

Charles Gates - Mill Valley - 2023:  Striking out 39 in under 34 innings, Gates was a force on both sides of the ball last year with a .373 batting average.

Andrew Ryan - Olathe North - 2023:  The Eagles had a lot of youth around their ace last season. After striking out 51 in 31.2 innings with a 2.43 ERA, Ryan will look to improve the win total with more experience around him in 23.

Gavin Blachowicz - Eudora - 2024:  One of the few juniors on the list, Gavin will be one to watch on the mound. He struck out 46 last year with a 2.48 ERA.

Jack Laird - Shawnee Mission East - 2023:  The SME Ace posted a 0.54 ERA last year, keeping his young team in a lot of games in 2022. A year later, this may be a team to surprise people.

Grant Rutkowski - Mill Valley - 2023:  After posting a 32-8 K-BB ratio with a 1.15 ERA, Grant is one of the Aces to watch in 2023.

Carter Rose - Shawnee Mission East - 2025:  Our only other sophomore on this list comes from the same team as the other. Rose struck out 24 while only walking 8, and his 1.30 ERA is something to be excited about for 2023.

Jack Scott - Olathe West - 2023:  Scott threw 32 chairs last year, sitting down 4 times as many as he walked with a 2.63 ERA.

Alex Veeman - Gardner-Edgerton - 2024:  After throwing a few gems his sophomore season, Veeman will look to log even more innings after posting a 1.75 ERA in 2022.
