Coaching notes

Hitter takes two pitches in rapid succession. Emphasis is on bracing into the front side, avoiding spill-over, and getting back to a ready position immediately after the first swing.

Objectives

Improve balance and finish; train quick recovery into the next swing; fix players who spill over or lose front-side brace.

Coaching cues

Stick the finish; get back to hitting position ASAP; brace into the front side and legs; no spill-over.

Common errors

Falling off the first swing; slow recovery; losing balance into the second pitch.

Steps

  1. 1. Two-Ball Sets — Machine feeds two consecutive pitches; hitter must stick finish and reset.
  2. 2. Progression — Increase velocity or shorten distance between feeds.
  3. 3. Focus Players — Especially useful for those who lose balance or spill over.
