Coaching notes

IMG Academy teaching how far to shade, when to break, and the footwork required once the ball is fielded so the throw to first is clean.

Objectives

Reduce balls through the 4-hole and improve communication/urgency to the bag.

Coaching cues

Three steps over + half step in; urgency to the bag after the ball is hit; proper footwork on the bag after fielding.

Common errors

Too deep or too shallow; late break; poor bag approach after the play.

Steps

  1. 1. Set positioning for 4-hole
  2. 2. Coach hits or rolls balls into the hole
  3. 3. Field and get to bag with proper footwork
