Team

Coaching notes

Coach Trent Mongero’s team bunting circuit uses four stations with cones as targets; successful bunts score points and players rotate or sprint between stations.

Objectives

Build universal bunting competence across all four common bunt types and add competition/conditioning.

Coaching cues

Hands high in the zone; deaden the ball; angle the bat correctly for each type; hustle between stations.

Common errors

Bunting out of the zone; popping the ball up; failing to square or pivot correctly; lack of hustle.

Steps

  1. 1. Set four stations: home (squeeze), 1B (sacrifice), 2B (drag), 3B (push)
  2. 2. Pitchers throw quality strikes on coach command
  3. 3. Batter executes the assigned bunt through cones for a point
  4. 4. Sprint to next station after each attempt
  5. 5. Tally points and rotate until every player has done all four
