Teacherman Proper Load Drill

Teacherman Hitting instructional drill that corrects the most common loading errors by teaching the correct coil, head stability, and ground connection.

Duration:
About 10 min

Coaching notes

Detailed breakdown showing why most hitters load incorrectly (leaning, head movement, poor ground connection) and the simple adjustments that create a powerful connected load. Emphasizes staying 50/50, leaving the head still, and coiling so the heel comes off the ground while the head remains quiet.

Objectives

Install a correct powerful load; eliminate leaning and head movement; create better stretch and ground force.

Coaching cues

Start 50/50; leave the head still; coil so the back heel comes off the ground; feel the stretch in the back side; never let the head go back with the load.

Common errors

Leaning the head or upper body back; loading with only a weight shift and no coil; letting the head move during the load.

Steps

  1. 1. Start in a balanced 50/50 stance
  2. 2. Coil while leaving the head completely still
  3. 3. Feel the back heel come off the ground and the stretch
  4. 4. Fire the swing from the properly loaded position
