Drill that trains middle infielders to get a good angle on balls in the hole, create momentum toward second, and execute a quick transfer.

Coaching notes

Players work balls hit into the hole, focusing on taking an aggressive angle around the ball, staying low, creating forward momentum toward second base, and transferring cleanly for the double-play feed or throw.

Coaching cues

Get around the ball for a better angle; stay low and create momentum; quick clean transfer.

Common errors

Taking a direct (too short) path; stopping the feet; forcing a backhand when an angle is available.
