Coach or partner tosses to predetermined zones; hitter works on recognizing and driving the targeted location with intent.
Objectives
Improve pitch-location recognition, selective aggression, and ability to adjust the swing path to the zone.
Coaching cues
Hunt the location; stay balanced; drive the ball where it is; adjust path early.
Common errors
Swinging at everything; late recognition; forcing contact outside the zone.
Steps
- 1. Define target location(s)
- 2. Receive front toss
- 3. Recognize and commit only to the location
- 4. Drive with intent
- 5. Rotate locations
