Crow Hop and Throw After Fielding

Teach the natural crow-hop rhythm after fielding a ground ball so the throw is powerful and on-line.

Coaching notes

After fielding low, hop onto the throwing foot then stride and throw. Builds the automatic right-left rhythm used by infielders and outfielders.

Objectives

Convert fielding into a strong, accurate throw; develop natural throwing rhythm; improve transfer speed.

Coaching cues

Field low; hop onto throwing foot (right for RH); stride with glove foot; follow the throw.

Common errors

Standing up before hopping; hopping up instead of out; stopping feet after the catch.
