Coaching notes

Coach or partner rolls or soft-tosses bunts while the infielder must field cleanly and either apply a tag or transition into a throw depending on the situation called. Builds reaction, soft hands under pressure, and decision-making.

Objectives

Improve bunt fielding technique and reaction; develop tag mechanics; train decision speed under pressure.

Coaching cues

Get the ball first; Soft hands; Tag with two hands when possible; Communicate the play; Stay balanced.

Common errors

Overrunning the ball; One-handing the bunt; Slow or high tag; Forgetting the secondary play.
