Antonelli Improve Throwing and Catching Routine

Daily throwing-and-catching routine that treats warm-up throws as skill work for arm strength, accuracy, footwork, and transfer.

Equipment:
Ball only
Duration:
About 12 min
Setting:
Outdoor
Players:
Partner

Coaching notes

Players work a structured routine emphasizing footwork into every throw, clean transfers, and purposeful accuracy rather than simply 'warming up the arm.'

Objectives

Turn every throw into deliberate practice of mechanics, accuracy, footwork, and catching/transfer skills.

Coaching cues

We warm up the throw, we don't throw to warm up; use the feet on every throw; clean transfer; finish through the target.

Common errors

Lazy feet; one-handed catches; aiming instead of throwing with intent; incomplete follow-through.

Steps

  1. 1. Structured partner throws with footwork emphasis
  2. 2. Clean transfer focus on every catch
  3. 3. Accuracy and finish through target
  4. 4. Progress distance while maintaining quality
